Rhode Island Expands Virtual Gaming Beyond State Borders

The law allows to livestream virtual games to external jurisdictions.

A new law allows Rhode Island's two casinos to livestream virtual games to external jurisdictions for the purpose of facilitating gambling in other states and countries where virtual gaming is permitted.

The legislation introduced by Senate Majority Leader Frank A. Ciccone III and Rep. Scott A. Slater was signed into law by Gov. Dan McKee on June 30.

“Rhode Island has already positioned itself as a national leader in online virtual gaming and this bill would further strengthen our state’s role as an industry leader," said Ciccone, D-Providence, Johnston.

“This is an easy step to make to help our local industry stay competitive nationally and internationally,” said Slater, D-Providence.
