Rhode Island Heat Advisory Starting Tuesday

Temperatures may reach 100 degrees.

The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for Rhode Island starting Tuesday morning.

The heat advisory starts at 11 a.m. Tuesday and is to last through 7 p.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service predicted between 95 and 100 degrees in the afternoon hours.

"The worst of the heat and humidity will be Wednesday and Thursday and it is possible that these heat headlines may need to be extended into Friday," the National Weather Service said.

The advisory applies to all of southern New England except the east slopes Berkshires, as well as Cape Cod and the Islands.

"Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses," the National Weather Service warned, advising residents to "Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors."
