RI Camp Counselor Charged With Possessing Child Pornography

PAWTUCKET, RI — A camp counselor was arrested Wednesday after Rhode Island State Police said he was caught with child pornography.

Ryan Minasian, 19, of Pawtucket, was charged with possession of child pornography.

State police said they discovered an internet connection from Minasian's home, where child pornography was being shared from. On Wednesday, troopers searched the home and discovered child pornography belonging to Minasian, state police said.

Minasian was arraigned at Sixth Division District Court and was released on $25,000 bail with surety. He will return to court at a future date and cannot have unsupervised contact with minors and has restricted internet access.

Minasian has been seasonally employed this summer as a camp counselor at the Newman YMCA, on Taunton Avenue in Seekonk, Massachusetts. As of Friday, there is no evidence of any inappropriate involvement with campers, state police said.
