5 Things to Know About Weekend

Sizzling, steam weather to abate; sunset kayak tour of Hundred Acre Cove; 'The Pirates of Penzance, Junior'; farmers market at 'White Church'; Temple Habonim film series starts.

Here are five things you should know about this weekend, July 19-21, in and around Barrington:

  1. Sizzling and steamy weather with highs in the low 90s today and Saturday with a potential for severe thunderstorms tomorrow should ease up on Sunday with temperatures in the low 80s.
  2. East Bay Paddle hosts a Sunset Kayak Tour of Hundred Acre Cove in Barrington from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Friday; paddlers will be met at the water's edge by a guide with complete rental packages, bottled water, basic instruction. Reservations to info@eastbaypaddle.com.
  3. The ACTSA Ensemble at St. Andrew’s School on Federal Road presents a second performance of “The Pirates of Penzance, Junior” today at 7 pm in the McCulloch Center for the Arts.
  4. The Go Local Farmers Market continues on Saturday from 9 am to noon at Barrington Congregational Church on County Road.
  5. A summer film series starts at Temple Habonim, 165 New Meadow Road, on Sunday at 7 pm; it opens with “The Other Son,” a look at how Israeli parents deal with the discovery that their biological son was switched at birth with the son of a Palestinian West Bank family on the eve of his entrance into the Army for his national service.
