'App' Helps to Find iPad Stolen from 'Y'

An iPad stolen from the Bayside YMCA locker room is found by Barrington police with the help of an 'app' loaded onto the device by its owner.

An “app” loaded to an iPad by its owner helped Barrington police recover the electronic device last week in a pile of leaves in the back yard of a home on Waseca Avenue.

The iPad was reported stolen from the Bayside YMCA locker room at around 8:51 am last Tuesday, April 23, according to Barrington police. A 20-year-old man reportedly left the building at about the same time and was seen walking on the East Bay Bike Path toward the Barrington Shopping Plaza.

A patrol officer located workers outside the Shaw’s supermarket that were wearing clothing similar to the description provided to the police for the young man. The victim said the workers did not include the young man he saw leaving the YMCA.
