Newport Police Seeking 2 Women In Connection With Wallet Theft: Cops

The wallet was stolen from a teller's window counter at the Citizens Bank in the Connell Highway Stop & Shop, police said.

NEWPORT, RI — The Newport police said they are looking for two women in connection with the theft of a wallet from a bank teller's window counter.

The wallet was stolen from a teller's window counter at the Citizens Bank in the Connell Highway Stop & Shop shortly after 7:30 p.m. Dec. 18, police said.

The women "spotted a wallet" on the teller's window counter and one "appeared to keep an eye out to make sure nobody was around, while the other removed the wallet from the counter," the Newport police said in a post on the department's Facebook page.

"They both could then be seen on video leaving together," according to the post said.

"If you can identify either of the people in these pictures, please contact Detective Matt Clarizio at mclarizio@newportri.gov or 401-845-5775," the post said. "Any assistance in the identification of either female is greatly appreciated."
