Barrington High School Goes Remote Amid Threat Investigation

The shift to remote learning is so police can continue investigating a shooting threat found in a school bathroom last week.

BARRINGTON, RI — Barrington High School is shifting classes to online for the last three days of school before winter break.

The shift to remote learning is so police and schools officials can continue investigating a shooting threat found in a school bathroom last week.

Superintendent Michael Messore and Principal Joseph Hurley in an email sent to parents Sunday said the decision was made "out of an abundance of caution."

“We want to thank staff, students, and families for their continued support and patience as we work to resolve the threat made to the high school,” Hurley wrote in the email. "We believe that the additional time for the investigation will provide us with the information we need to successfully and safely reopen schools on Monday, January 3, 2022."

Hurley said the school department will continue working with police and will update students and families as more information becomes available.
