The County Road restaurant is expected to reopen this weekend after a complete interior renovation.

You should be able to quench your thirst with an Awful Awful by this weekend.Ā

The complete remodeling of the Newport Creamery on County Road in Barrington is expected to be done by the end of this week. It closed for the overhaul on May 13.Ā

ā€œIt should take about two weeks,ā€ said Brian Colton, marketing manager for the Jan Companies, which owns the restaurant. ā€œWorkers are pretty much gutting the interior.ā€

When work is done, Colton said, you will see a restaurant that is the new model for all of the Newport Creamery restaurants in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

The Newport Creamery restaurants in Garden City, Cranston; the Warwick Mall; Fall River, Middletown and Newport were the first five renovated under what Colton described as a ā€œrebranding.ā€ The Barrington store is the sixth.

Jan Company workers are handling most of the remodeling. Work will be completed so quickly, Colton said, because ā€œcrews build many of the pieces, such as the tables and booths, at another location.ā€ They will be transported to Barrington to complete the remodeling.

The exterior of the building will look the same, he said. Much of the menu will look familiar, as well, including a variety of Awful Awfuls, including a low-fat shake.
