• New program in Barrington diverts 10 tons of food waste from landfill (eastbayri.com) — Barrington’s new curbside composting program has already kept more than 10 tons of food waste out of the landfill, with over 300 local households signed up and discounted spots still available. Backed by the Barrington Town Council and regional partners, the effort aims to cut trash costs and extend Rhode Island’s landfill life, potentially saving taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars.
   

• Hometown Hero: James Caldarella, Cheshire Academy (wpri.com) — A Barrington-based feature spotlights guard James Caldarella, this week’s Hometown Sports Hero, for his strong two-way play at Cheshire Academy. After four standout years at Hendricken and a big AAU summer with BCRI, he’s already committed to play Division I basketball at the Air Force Academy and is preparing for the academic and athletic demands ahead.
   

• Bristol Police: Arrests for DUI and assault, trespassers, and unwanted intoxicated visitors (eastbayri.com) — Bristol Police logged a busy week of calls, from fraud and neighbor disputes to dog complaints and trespassing. Among several arrests, officers charged a 24-year-old resident of Middle Highway in Barrington with DUI, alongside other Bristol and Providence individuals facing DUI and domestic assault charges.
