Marine Task Force & Coast Guard Search For Warwick Kayaker

Michael Perry, 46, of Warwick, left home around noon, his wife told 911.

WARWICK, RI— The U.S. Coast Guard and the Marine Patrol are among the agencies searching waters near Conimicut Point for a 46-year-old Warwick man. Michael Perry went missing Friday afternoon, the U.S. Coast Guard said. He left home around noon to go kayaking for about an hour, his wife told the authorities. When he did not return, his wife called 911 and gave the dispatcher his "intended route and schedule," the Coast Guard said. They were notified around 5 p.m. that he was missing.

Station Castle Hill Newport launched a 45-foot rescue boat Friday afternoon, and Aids to Navigation Team Bristol has also been searching with a 49-foot boat. Providence Police and other fire departments, including Warwick, Cranston and Barrington, have been looking for Perry.

Perry was believed to be in a 10-foot orange kayak. It's unknown if he was wearing a life jacket.
