Barrington Students Earn National Award

Stephen Forte and Teddy Ni brought home a third-place award from a national Future Business Leaders of America conference.

Two Barrington High School students received national recognition at the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) Awards of Excellence conference in Anaheim, Calif. on June 30.

Stephen Forte and Teddy Ni competed in LifeSmarts and brought home a Third Place award.  The LifeSmarts Competition encourages FBLA members to learn about economics, personal finance, and consumer issues.  This event challenges students to integrate multiple areas of business knowledge and skills, using critical-thinking skills and teamwork during competition.

“LifeSmarts competition was truly an exciting event to be part of and witness the level of intensity during the event. I’m very proud of both Stephen and Teddy,” said John West, Barrington FBLA Adviser.

Forte also received recognition in the Introduction to Business competition placing eighth.  In this event students discover the roles of business in the free enterprise system and the global economy. Students will learn basic financial concepts of banking, insurance, credit, investments and learn to make sound decisions as consumers. In addition, FBLA members will learn the real-world impact of technology, effective communication, and interpersonal skills.

“The awards ceremony proved exciting with Barrington FBLA students placing in two events at the national level. The reaction of the students capped a wonderful experience at the conference,” said West.
