Boy, 17, Charged With Selling Rx Drug
The boy, a student at Barrington High School, was arraigned in Family Court last week.

A Barrington student, 17, was arraigned in Family Court last Wednesday, July 3, for selling prescription medication at the high school several months ago.
The boy allegedly sold an Aderall pill to a 14-year-old student in a classroom on Feb. 13. The prescription drug, primarily an amphetamine, is used to control attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (AHDH).Â
The 17-year-old was charged by Barrington police with delivery of a controlled substance, according to Det. Lt. Dino DeCrescenzo. An investigation into the sale has been ongoing since the alleged sale. The boy does have an attorney and the parents are cooperating, he said.

The investigation included getting a subpoena to search the boy’s cell phone for text messages and other electronic communication, DeCrescenzo said. The alleged sale reportedly was spotted by another student, who reported the exchange to an assistant principal.Â
The boy has been confined to his home with an anklet to monitor his movements, DeCrescenzo said. The judge also set other conditions on his confinement, including no use of social media. He will return to Family Court at a later date to face the charge.
