The new owner of a Barrington home finds an unusual weapon in his attic and a woman gets snagged while jogging.

You'll never guess what they ran into last week.
On Thursday afternoon, Barrington police were informed by a the new owner of a house on Winsor Road that he found a baseball bat with nails and spikes hammered into it to make quite a weapon or an accessory to a Halloween costume.Ā
The bat was found stuffed inside some insulation in a wall in the attic, where some electrical work is being done, according to the police report.Ā

Then early on Friday morning about 6:24, a woman runner crossing the north side of the Barrington Bridge got snagged around the neck by a fishing line running from the guard rail into the water. She was not injured, just surprised.Ā
A man fishing from the Barrington Bridge left the line dangling across the walkway. He apologized to the jogger for creating the almost invisible obstruction and then gathered up his gear and left the bridge, according to the police report.
