Liquor Stores Target of Credit-Card Scam
Attempts to buy champagne from Brickyard Wine and Spirits and Grapes and Grains with fake credit card fail.

Both of Barrington’s liquor stores were targeted last week by someone trying to scam them out of champagne.
Giovani Cicione, the Barrington owner of Brickyard Wine and Spirits, called Barrington police on Thursday afternoon, Aug. 15, to report the attempted fraudulent purchase of Cristal champagne.
A person with what was believed to be a “Nigerian accent” called the County Road liquor store to purchase a case of the champagne with a fake credit card, said Barrington Police Chief John LaCross. A FedEx delivery truck was to pick up the case of champagne later that day.
