Parents' Guide for a Safe Senior Prom
The BAY Team substance abuse prevention coalition offers a few tips for parents to follow for prom night.
The Barrington High School senior prom is tonight. The BAY Team created a list for parents to use as a guide for a night that sometimes leads to underage drinking and other unhealthy decisions.
- Support the Afterprom!
- Tell your teen that you expect them to stay alcohol and drug free (including marijuana).
- Remind your teen not to ride in a vehicle with a driver who is under the influence. Ever!
- Provide an 'out' for your teen, a contact number of someone they can call or text at any time to get home or get help.
- Never allow underage drinking! Even if you ātake the keys,ā allowing youth to drink threatens their physical safety and mental development. Skip the booze to protect yourself and youth from the risk of serious health, personal, and legal ramifications.

- Take lots of pictures and savor these precious moments!
