• Grant money would expand splash pad at Barrington park (eastbayri.com) — Barrington officials are pursuing two state recreation grants to overhaul Kids Kove Playground and expand the splash pad at Police Cove Park, projects totaling nearly $1.2 million. If the grants come through, the town will still need to line up matching funds, and residents could see a modernized, more accessible play area and new multigenerational wellness path near the library and senior center.
   

• Barrington schools — private and public — request increased police presence (eastbayri.com) — Barrington schools, both public and private, are increasing police presence on campuses following the recent shooting at Brown University. Interim Superintendent Robert Mitchell says counselors and support staff are available to help students process the news, and urges families to reach out to principals or counselors if they need resources or someone to talk to.
