It's not too late to donate to the Community Scholarship Fund of Barrington (eastbayri.com) — Barrington residents are being encouraged to support local students by donating to the Community Scholarship Fund of Barrington, which has awarded over $1 million since its creation. Contributions to the Barrington Times Holiday Greeting Page both share seasonal well-wishes and help fund scholarships that ease rising college costs for Barrington students. Donations and name listings can be made online.
   

2. Barrington taxpayers picking up the tab for Soul Force celebration (eastbayri.com) — Barrington’s Town Council has approved $5,500 from its contingency fund to help expand the Soul Force Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration, bringing the total event budget to nearly $9,000. The DEI Committee plans more performers, food trucks, and activities at the larger Peck Center venue, while some residents questioned using taxpayer money for free food and urged organizers to keep the event non-partisan and broadly welcoming.
   

3. Boys and Girls High School All-America Teams revealed for Fall 2025 season (soccerwire.com) — A Barrington High School boys’ soccer standout, senior goalkeeper Liam Helfrich, has been named a United Soccer Coaches High School All-American for the Fall 2025 season. He’s one of just 199 players nationwide honored and will be recognized at a January 2026 ceremony in Philadelphia alongside other top boys and girls athletes.
   

4. Discover Newport announces six new board members as Gray takes helm (whatsupnewp.com) — Barrington is one of nine coastal communities represented on Discover Newport’s 18-member tourism board, which just added six new directors and a new chair. The organization, now led by Portsmouth business owner Matthew Gray, is crafting a strategic plan to boost off‑season and weekday visitation while protecting residents’ quality of life across Newport and Bristol counties.
   

5. Remembering Evie Wozniak, active in Berkeley politics and an aide at City Hall (berkeleyside.org) — A former Barrington resident, Evelyn “Evie” Vetterlein Wozniak, is being remembered for a life that began on Narragansett Bay and led to decades of public service and activism in Berkeley, California. Her obituary traces her Barrington roots, global travels, political work, devotion to family, and remarkable adventures before her passing in September at age 86.
