School Board to Consider 'Baldrige' Assessment

The Barrington School Committee meets Thursday in Town Hall at 7:30 pm.

The Barrington School Committee meets again on Thursday evening for its second April session.

The meeting will be held in the School Committee Room in Town Hall. It starts at 7:30 pm.

Among the items on the agenda are the consideration of undertaking a Baldrige Collaborative Assessment for the schools. This assessment provides “timely, actionable feedback that you can begin using right away to improve your organization,” accoding to the Baldrige website.

Here's how the assessment is described:

  • You receive a 4 1/2-day site visit from a team of four experienced national Baldrige examiners.
  • They work collaboratively with your leadership and staff to identify key strengths and opportunities across the six process categories of the Baldrige Criteria, using results to support the findings.
  • The end product is immediate feedback on your organization's areas of strength and opportunities for improvement, followed by a written feedback report.

Other items on the agenda include a discussion of the RI Department of Education’s plan for the New England Common Assessment Program (NECAP), and an update on high school accreditation by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
