Tastes of Town 'Bloom' in Barrington

The first 'Blooms, Bubbles and Bistro' food-tasting event took place Thursday evening at Grapes & Grains in Barrington; it was a highlight of the first Barrington Blooms event running this week.

A Barrington Business Association food-tasting fundraiser, “Blooms, Bubbles and Bistro,” drew scores of people to Grapes & Grains on Bosworth Street Thursday evening. It was a highlight of the first "Barrington Blooms" week, which continues with a storefront decorating contest.

Many of Barrington's restaurants and eateries served up some of their best tastes of the town from 6 to 8 pm. Among the foods: goat cheese crostini by Billy's restaurant; arancini (panko fried wild musroom risotto) by Tyler Point Grille; pizzas by Trendy's Pizza and Mangia Neapolitan Pizza; calzones by Casual Catering; mini-cupcakes by the Sweet Shoppe; assorted pastries by Vienna Bakery; chopped salad with shrimp by Pizzico Ristorate; potato and spinach puffs by Blue Kangaraoo, and assorted wraps and mini-bagel sandwiches by Bagels Etc.

Shown above are the BBA members who made it happen: Matt Amaral, owner of Grapes & Grains; Chrissy Polverino and Lois Coppolino of Daisy Dig'ins; Michelle Cartwright and Todd Mosher of RE/MAX River's Edge realty, and Holly Smith of Hollies on the Avenue.
