Teen, 17, Faces Stolen Vehicle Charge

Barrington police charge a boy, 17, with possession of a stolen vehicle after the pickup truck strikes two vehicles in a Barrington driveway.

A 17-year-old boy faces a charge of possession of a stolen vehicle that wound up in the front yard of a Barrington home early Sunday morning, May 19, after hitting two cars parked in the driveway.

The teen allegedly found the keys to a Dodge pickup truck in the center console and drove away from a Rehoboth, Mass., home, Barrington police reported. The boy reportedly splits time between the Rehoboth and Barrington homes of his mother and father.

The truck apparently jumped the curb of a Mayfield Drive home about 3 am, according to Barrington police, striking both cars in the driveway. Barrington police also charged the teen with driving without a license.Ā

The teen reportedly ran away from the truck after the crash. He was located in his father’s home on Grassy Plain Road after being identified by the victims, who apparently have known him for many years, police said.

His father brought the teen to the police station, where he was read his rights and formally charged. The truck’s owner was unaware his vehicle was stolen until contacted by the police on Sunday morning.
