1. 18 Displaced By Central Falls Fire: Reports (patch.com) — Central Falls residents are recovering after an early morning fire on Mary Street displaced 18 people, including two babies, from a multifamily home. Firefighters from Central Falls and several neighboring communities battled flames that began in the basement, but everyone, including a dog, escaped safely and no injuries were reported.

MORTGAGEE'S SALE 30 Foundry Street, Unit No. 5, Foundry Place (woonsocketcall.com) — A condominium at 30 Foundry Street, Unit 5 in Central Falls is scheduled for a foreclosure auction on January 7, 2026, at 10 a.m. on-site. The sale, tied to a long-standing mortgage recorded in the city’s land records, requires a $10,000 certified or bank check to bid and remains subject to court approval.
   

3. Feds drop appeal in SNAP shutdown case as lawsuit continues in Rhode Island • Highway 58 Herald (highway58herald.org) — Central Falls is one of three Rhode Island cities suing to keep federal SNAP work-requirement waivers in place, protecting local residents’ food benefits through February 2026. While the Trump administration has dropped its appeal over shutdown-era SNAP funding, the broader case over waivers and future work rules is still active in federal court, with potential long-term consequences for Central Falls households relying on food assistance.
   

4. Police: Men lied about who was driving during Central Falls hit-and-run (wpri.com) — A Rhode Island State Police cruiser was struck on Fales Street in Central Falls, and two young men are accused of fleeing and then lying about who was driving. Police say an independent witness and in-car video contradicted their story, leading to multiple charges including DUI, reckless driving, and obstruction. Both were later released on personal recognizance.
