Best Fish Story Saturday: Good Samaritan Rescues Man Overboard
A man fishing out on Maple Root Lake went overboard on Saturday afternoon. A good Samaritan saw the mishap and went out in a canoe for him.

COVENTRY, RI—A man fell off a boat in Coventry around 2:30 p.m. Saturday, according to fire Capt. James Almagno. The incident happened on Maple Root Lake. A good Samaritan saw the mishap from shore and went out in a canoe for him. The good Samaritan also brought the boat back to shore. He was in Coventry visiting a friend when he happened to go out in the back yard and see the man fall overboard.
The victim was not injured.
The man was coming ashore when firefighters arrived, Capt. Almagno said.

"He was evaluated, and everything was normal," the captain said. He was "wet and cold, but his vital signs were stable."
