Coventry Man To Receive Military Decorations
Chief Petty Officer Edmund Del Barone is being honored for his service during and after World War II, Cong. James Langevin's office said.

COVENTRY, RI — Edmund Del Barone served his country in World War II and the years after. On Friday, he will receive military decorations from U.S. Cong. James Langevin. The congressman and Rhode Island Director of Veterans Affairs Kasim YarnDel will make the presentation at the Alpine Nursing Home.in Coventry, where Del Barone, who is originally from Providence, is now living.
He will be presented with the "Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation with one bronze star, Navy Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), American Defense Service Medal with Fleet Clasp, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one silver star and 2 bronze stars, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, National Defense Service Medal with one bronze star, and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal Lebanon," Langevin's office said.
"Chief Petty Officer Del Barone, formerly of Providence and now a resident of Coventry, attended boot camp at Naval Station Newport in 1940. He served in the United States Navy for over 20 years and spent the majority of his service career at sea conducting maintenance. He was stationed on several ships, including the destroyer USS Wadleigh."
