Coventry Police Arrest Alleged Crack Dealer, Save A Life

At the same time, officers saved another person who had overdosed. The two incidents were unrelated, police said.

COVENTRY, RI--Coventry police arrested a 37-year-old Providence man on Whitford Street on Thursday. During the arrest, they also saved a man who had overdosed, was not breathing and was in a car on Whitford Street at the same time of the drug arrest. Detectives used Narcan to revive him. Police gave the 29-year-old four doses of Narcan, and he was taken to the hospital, treated and released.

The patient was not connected to the drug bust, police said. Detectives had been investigating Samuel Jackson after they received complaints about drugs being sold near the bike path. Police stopped his car and allege his female passenger had 14 grams of cocaine hidden on her internally. A woman officer was called in to recover the drugs. Police also allege Jackson was carrying cash and jewelry. He was charged with Possession with intent to deliver crack cocaine and is being held at the Adult Correctional Institutions.
