Five Things, August 6: Fresh Fruits & Veggies, Dinosaurs and More

Today is Tuesday, August 6, 2013 and here are five things you should know about.

CPL Dino Program: Today at 2 p.m., the Coventry Public Library will host a dinosaur program for children ages 5-12 are invited to join Dinoman and his trusty raccoon friend Reflex to learn all about dinos of the Mesozoic Era in this special event that is part of the Library's 2013 "Dig Into Reading" Summer Reading Program! No registration required.

School Committee Topics:
 On Tuesday, Aug. 6, the Coventry School Committee will hold a public meeting at 7 p.m. at the School Dept. Administration Offices (1675 Flat River Rd.). Topics to be addressed include a presentation on school classifications, school calendar revision and more. Click here to view Tuesday's agenda.

Greene Farmers Market:
 Skip the grocery store tonight and pick up some fresh veggies, breads and pies at Greene Library's Farmers Market! From 4-7 p.m. each Tuesday through September, the Library (179 Hopkins Hollow Rd.) will host the community market that also offers plants, original craftwork and more. If you would like to become a vendor or need more details, call the call the library at 397-3873 or contact Gail at gail@coventrylibrary.org. 

Community Garden Help: The Coventry Community Garden, organized and overseen by longtime resident Gail Tatangelo, is in great need of volunteers to assist with planting, weeding, watering and harvesting through the summer months. If you're interested in volunteering time to the garden that provides healthy food to Coventry residents in need, email Gail at gail660@verizon.net. Feel free to stop by the garden across from Town Hall to lend a hand!

Artisans and Crafters: The Friends of the Coventry Public Library are now accepting applications for artisans and crafters for the 3rd Annual Fall Artisan Fair to be held on Saturday, Oct. 5. Contact Virginia at lynchkids96@verizon.net or call (401) 826-1122 for an application or more information.
