Five Things, July 30: CCFD Hearing, $5 Yoga and More

Today is Tuesday, July 30, 2013 and here are five things to know about the week ahead.

CCFD Hearing: A hearing will be held at 9:30 a.m. today, July 30, in Courtroom 11 of Providence County Superior Court (250 Benefit St., Providence), to discuss Central Coventry Fire District Special Master Richard Land's request to authorize the return of the district's 2009 Pierce ladder truck. The newly elected Board of Directors approved the decision at a recent meeting. Click here to view court documents for Tuesday's hearing.

Yoga Class (All Ages): The Coventry Senior Center (50 Wood St.), will offer a yoga class this and each Tuesday evening from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Classes are $5 each per person and payment is due the day of class. Participants must bring their own mat. All ages are welcome.

Babysitter's Training Course: Registration is now open for a Babysitter's Training course conducted by the RI Chapter of the American Red Cross on Wednesday, August 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Coventry Public Library. The class is offered to boys and girls ages 11-15, and will teach the fundamentals of babysitting, safety and first aid. A non-refundable fee of $85 is due at registration in the Youth Services department of the library. Fee includes instruction and all materials. Lunch, snacks and beverages will be provided by the library.

Greene Farmers Market: Skip the grocery store tonight and pick up some fresh veggies, breads and pies at Greene Library's Farmers Market! From 4-7 p.m. each Tuesday through September, the Library (179 Hopkins Hollow Rd.) will host the community market that also offers plants, original craftwork and more. Artisans and Crafters: The Friends of the Coventry Public Library are now accepting applications for artisans and crafters for the 3rd Annual Fall Artisan Fair to be held on Saturday, Oct. 5. Contact Virginia at lynchkids96@verizon.net or call (401) 826-1122 for an application or more information.
