Man, 52, Rescued From Coventry Pond On Labor Day

The man was pulled from Johnson's Pond after he may have had a medical emergency on the bank, police said.

COVENTRY, RI — A 52-year-old man was rescued after falling into Johnson's Pond Monday afternoon, Coventry police said.

The man fell into the water at Zeke's Bridge off Harkney Hill Road a little after 4 p.m., according to police. He was pulled from the water by bystanders and was unresponsive on land when emergency responders arrived. Emergency medical personnel performed CPR at the scene before he was rushed to Kent County Hospital.

The man may have fallen in the water after having a medical emergency on the bank, police said.
