Western Coventry Fire District Annual Meeting Postponed
A rescheduled date for the meeting for voters to approve the annual budget will be announced at a later date.

COVENTRY, RI—The annual meeting of the Western Coventry Fire District planned for Monday night has been postponed due to the snow and poor road conditions.
The meeting will be rescheduled to a later date to be announced by the district's Board of Directors, said Skip Mays, moderator.
The meeting, which was to be held at Summit Station at 1110 Victory Highway, is for district voters to approve a budget and elect two district board members.

The board has proposed a budget of $617,757.87, an increase of 3.4 percent over the prior year's budget.
The fire tax levy is proposed to be $585,507.87, an increase of 2.91 percent.

The district ended the most-recent fiscal year with a $10,236 surplus with revenues of $598,401.
Among the highlights for the district's past financial year is the collection of $148,000 from rescue billings, submitting the final payment of $80,146 for a rescue vehicle purchased in 2013 and ending the fiscal year with a general fund balance of $235,395 and a rescue recovery fund balance of $254,283.
