White Powder Mailed to Coventry Businesses
Police are investigating two incidents this week of a white powdery substance being mailed to local businesses.

COVENTRY, RI—Mail containing a white powdery substance was sent to two businesses in Coventry this week.
On Friday afternoon, police responded to Benny's on Tiogue Avenue after a white powdery substance was found in an envelope.
Police said that the state Department of Environmental Management and the Warwick Fire Department hazmat team responded to secure the envelope.

A similar incident occurred on Monday when a local business owner found a baggy containing a white powdery substance in the mail, police said.
In that case, the substance was sent to the Department of Health for testing and was negative for all biological or chemical agents, police said.

There were no injuries and nobody was exposed to the substances, police said.
The incidents are under investigation.
