20 Rabbits Rescued, 2 Cranston Women Facing Animal Cruelty Charges
Ariana Anderson and Julia Santucci were charged with animal cruelty after having 20 rabbits stacked in dog crates, authorities said.

CRANSTON, RI — Two Cranston women are facing animal cruelty charges after the Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RISPCA) said they rescued 20 rabbits from their apartment last week.
Ariana Anderson, 24, and Julia Santucci, 26, been charged with unnecessary cruelty to animals. Anderson and Santucci turned themselves Monday. They pleaded not guilty at their arraignment and were released on personal recognizance.
RISPCA officials said the rabbits were found in dog crates stacked on top of one another and were living in "deplorable conditions." According to the RISPCA, the majority of the rabbits needed veterinary care.

RISPCA officials said most of the rabbits are at their headquarters in East Providence. Some are scheduled to be spayed and neutered this week and could be up for adoption soon.
