203k Rhode Islanders Have 'Unknown' COVID-19 Vaccine Status

The state is a stone's throw away from at least partially vaccinating 80 percent of eligible residents.

"Our goal is to reach 100 percent vaccine coverage among eligible Rhode Islanders to better protect those that are not yet eligible for vaccination," the Department of Health said. "Vaccines are safe, effective, and free."

PROVIDENCE, RI — Along with keeping track of the number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in the state, the Rhode Island Department of Health has a new counter on its coronavirus website: how far we have to go.

According to the latest data from the department, there are 202,999 Rhode Island residents who are eligible to get vaccinated, but are of "unknown vaccine status."

"Of the estimated 1,056,611 Rhode Islanders, 923,817 people are 12 or older and therefore eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine," the department explained. "Our goal is to reach 100 percent vaccine coverage among eligible Rhode Islanders to better protect those that are not yet eligible for vaccination. Vaccines are safe, effective, and free."
