Bicyclist In Critical Condition After Being Hit By Car In Warwick
Warwick police say the crash victim had no pulse, but CPR was successful while rushing him to Kent Hospital.
WARWICK, RI — A bicyclist is in critical condition after he was hit by a car in Warwick on Tuesday, according to police.
Just after 9:30 p.m., police were called to the area of West Shore Road and Yates Avenue for a report of a crash involving a car and a bike. When officers arrived, they found the bicyclist, a 58-year-old man, on the ground in the parking lot of the Shell gas station.
Police said the man was unconscious and had no pulse. First responders rushed him to Kent Hospital and performed CPR on the way. Police said the CPR was successful in regaining a pulse, but the man remains in critical condition.

According to police, a white Chevy Traverse driven by Kathleen Augustyn, 61, of Warwick, was involved in the crash. Police said Augustyn was driving east on West Shore Road and made a left turn into the gas station, when she struck the bike and caused the man to be thrown off his bicycle.
Police said Augustyn remained on scene and cooperated with police. Speed and alcohol did not appear to be factors in the crash, according to police.

Warwick police said the investigation is ongoing, but no charges are pending at this time.
Police have not released the identity of the victim.
