CA Woman Admits To Trafficking Crystal Meth In Rhode Island While Staying In Cranston
Nora Cecilia Carranza Reyes, 52, admits to delivering more than three pounds of crystal meth to a man to a person traveling from Maine.
CRANSTON, RI — A California woman admitted she distributed more than three pounds of crystal methamphetamine in Rhode Island, U.S. Attorney Zachary Cunha said Thursday.
Nora Cecilia Carranza Reyes, 52, pleaded guilty to a federal judge in Providence to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
Prosecutors said Carranza Reyes was under surveillance by law enforcement, beginning in June 2022. According to prosecutors, Carranza Reyes and another person delivered a brown paper bag containing more than three pounds of meth to a person who traveled from Maine to Rhode Island.

Federal prosecutors said the drugs were seized by police in Maine during a traffic stop for a routine traffic violation.
Authorities then got warrants to search Carranza Reyes' car and a Cranston home she was staying at. Prosecutors said police found more than two-and-a-half pounds of meth stashed inside a duffel bag in Carranza Reyes' car. The vehicle also contained a sophisticated hide within the engine compartment of the vehicle., prosecutors said.

Carranza Reyes is scheduled to be sentenced on May 2.
