The risk of avian flu for the public remains low, according to state health officials.

RHODE ISLAND — Northwest Naturals has recalled some of its cat food because a batch of it tested positive for bird flu, the Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) said Thursday.

RIDOH officials said the batch recalled was the Northwest Naturals brand two-pound feline turkey frozen pet food.

The risk of avian flu for the public remains low, according to state health officials. None of these cases have been in Rhode Island, and there has been no documented human-to-human spread.
