Clinton Visits EG For Fundraiser

Bill Clinton is visiting his old friend, Chad Verdi, for a Main Street fundraiser.

The inside of Verdi Productions on Main Street is decked out with poinsettias and flowers from Sprigs, the police department is reviewing security plans and Main Street is about to be jammed.

It’s all for Bill Clinton, who stops by for a fundraiser in East Greenwich today.

Chad Verdi, filmmaker and owner of Verdi Productions, is hosting the event for the Hillary Clinton campaign and residents should expect traffic and delays while the former First Landy and Presidential hopeful is in town.

Verdi, in an interview last month with the Patch, said that he’s “very happy to host him at my office on Dec. 7 for a $1,000 per person fundraiser to benefit the Hillary for President campaign.

That office on Main Street in historic downtown East Greenwich happens to be in the same building in which the Rhode Island Constitution was adopted in 1842.

Verdi said it’s “a pretty historic and great event” and isn’t the first event he’s hosted for the Clintons, who’ve been his friends for at least 15 years.

Verdi said he was introduced to the Clintons by former Rhode Island Democratic Party Chairman Mark Weiner.

When he’s not supporting Hilliary’s campaign for President, Verdi is hard at work with his film production company, Verdi Productions, which has four films in the pipeline, including a hotly-anticipated drama about the historic comeback by legendary Rhode Island boxer Vinny Paz, a former heavyweight champion whose career career seemed over after a severe car accident that broke his neck.
