Cranston Denny's on Reservoir Avenue Now Open
What was once a Friendly's is now a brand new Denny's that celebrated a ribbon cutting on Monday morning.

CRANSTON, RI—Vegetables and slices of toast were being cut at the Denny's on Reservoir Avenue in Cranston on Monday—along with a big long ribbon strung across the front door.
The new restaurant officially opened for business Monday morning at 7 a.m. A bevy of local officials, including the mayor, members of the city's economic development team and Rep. Robert Lancia of Cranston were on hand to cut the ribbon and welcome the first crop of hungry customers to the new restaurant. They also had hearty congrats and words of encouragement for franchisee Doug Cross and his family.
The new restaurant has transformed the former Friendly's eyesore—the former restaurant closed in 2013 and had become overgrown with weeds—into a spiffy new spot for breakfast and lunch rooted in classic American diner fare.
