Cranston Closing Public Schools Tuesday Due To Winter Storm

Seven to 13 inches of snow is forecasted for much of Rhode Island, including Cranston.

CRANSTON, RI — Cranston Public Schools will be closed because of a storm expected Tuesday that could dump more than a foot of snow on the city.

Cranston also announced a parking ban for Monday night, ahead of a winter storm expected to arrive early Tuesday morning.

The parking ban will be in effect from 11 p.m. Monday until further notice.

Cranston residents can help plows do their job by pulling all trash and recycling carts away from the street, along with basketball hoops or other items that block the street. Also, do not blow snow into the street from driveways.

The storm timing will likely be between 1 a.m. Tuesday and 1 a.m. Wednesday. According to the forecast, the heaviest snow is expected between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
