Cranston Police Dog Receiving Body Armor Donation
Tyr the police dog will receive a bullet and stab-protective vest, the Crasnston Police Department said.

CRANSTON, RI — Cranston police Dog Tyr will receive a bullet and stab-protective vest from nonprofit Vested Interest in K9s, the department said.
"This potentially lifesaving body armor for four-legged K9 officers is U.S. made, custom fitted, and National Institute of Justice (NIJ) certified," the Cranston Police Department posted on its Facebook page. "Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has provided over 6,225 vests valued atn $6.9 million to K9s in all 50 states, made possible by both private and corporate donations."
"We reiterate that K9 safety and protection is critical to our agency given the extremely precarious, hazardous and dangerous situations these dogs are deployed in," said Cranston police Majorb Todd Patalano. "This donation completes the outfitting of K9 TYR with the latest technology in K9 safety, and we express our thanks to Vested Interest for the generous contributions, saving the department thousands of crucial dollars.”
