Cranston Yard Waste Pickup Delayed: Leave Bags Out
Residents who did not have their yard waste picked up on their scheduled day are asked to leave bags out at the curb.
CRANSTON, RI — Some Cranston residents may have found something extra at the curb on trash day this week. Due to issues with an outside contractor, not all yard waste was picked up on time.
Cranston Mayor Kenneth Hopkins said the delay was caused by staffing issues at Waste Management, who manages yard waste pickup in the city.
Until the issue is resolved, residents are asked to leave yard waste at the curb, even past their regular pickup date. Trucks will run on Saturday to help catch up.

Hopkins said the city is penalizing Waste Management for the delay, which violates the terms of their contract, "and will continue to do so until the matter is resolved."
