Ex-Cranston City Councilor Fails Drug Test, Violates Home Confinement: Report
Former Cranston City Councilor Matthew Reilly has been accused of sexually assaulting 12-year-old girl.

CRANSTON, RI — Former Cranston City Councilor Matthew Reilly reportedly failed a court-ordered drug test, violating the terms of his home confinement, according to authorities.
Reilly, who was released on home confinement two months ago after being accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl, was back in custody at the Rhode Island Department of Correction's intake center, WPRI 12 reported. At the time, correction officials declined to share further details, only saying he was awaiting trial, but the television station has since confirmed Reilly tested positive for cocaine on Dec. 5.
Reilly resigned in May after Cranston police say they found him unconscious in his car after he smoked crack cocaine. A month later, he was charged in North Kingstown with first-degree child molestation, sexual assault, second-degree child molestation sexual assault, and enticement of a person under the age of 16.
