Graffiti, Some Threatening, Some Childish, Mars Rolfe Square
Someone defaced numerous buildings in Rolfe Square. Much of it had been cleaned up by Friday morning. But not all. Police are investigating.
CRANSTON, RI—Police are investigating a vandalism spree in Rolfe Square that left scores of buildings tagged with spray paint.
Some of the graffiti was childish, some threatening. Much of it had been painted over by property owners by Friday afternoon, but some still lingered, including lettering on the Auburn Branch of the Cranston Public Library and another building marred by letters that spelled out "DEATH QLIIQ."
Also tagged was the U.S. Post office building, the Touro Fraternal Association, and Church of the Ascension, whose sign was tagged "666" before it was washed off.

The incidents are frustrating for all Cranstonians who want to live in a city without urban blight. They also come on the heels of a rash of racist graffiti incidents across the state. Last month, the city scrubbed swastikas off the ground at Cranston Stebbins Stadium.
WPRI reported that police found a spray can in the area. Detectives continue to investigate.
