Police Searching for Suspect in Armed Assault on Wellington Avenue
Police said the man brandished a gun and demanded cash from the victim at around 7 a.m. on Saturday before the assault.
CRANSTON, RI—Cranston police are looking for an armed robber who demanded money and pistol-whipped a victim walking north under the Interstate 95 overpass on Wellington Avenue on Saturday.
Police said the suspect, described as a man in his late 20s or early 30s with average height and weight, approached the victim at around 7 a.m. and brandished a black semi-automatic styled handgun.
The suspect then assaulted the victim, "which included striking him with the handgun," police said.

The suspect was wearing a dark baseball cap, dark T-shirt, white plaid colored shorts and black sneakers. He reportedly left the scene in a 2005 to 2007 Saturn Vue toward Providence.
