Providence Toddler Nearly Died From Neglect: DCYF

PROVIDENCE, RI — An 18-month-old infant nearly died from neglect in December, the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families said.

The incident happened Dec. 7, the department said. Although the family had previous involvement with DCYF, it did not at the time. Because of confidentiality laws, specifics about the incident were not disclosed.

During its investigation, DCYF determined that neglect contributed to the near-fatality. The Office of the Child Advocate was notified of the incident.
