Rhode Island Gas Prices Down A Penny

Just one week after Rhode Island gas prices rose for the first time this summer, the average price is once again on the decline. Over the past week, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded gas dropped one cent in Rhode Island, bringing it to $2.69. Compared to the rest of the country, Rhode Island is cheap, coming in six cents below the national average of $2.75.

This time last year, the average cost per gallon was 21 cents high at $2.90.

"Despite prices either steadying or rising over the last two weeks, motorists are still benefiting from the fact that prices locally are lower than the national average and well below what they were a year ago at this same time," said Diana Imondi, AAA Northeast Manager of Public Affairs & Traffic Safety.

Across the state, prices range 38 cents from $2.51 to $2.89. Here's a look at the range and average cost of gas in Rhode Island by grade.

Regular Unleaded: $2.69 ($2.51-$2.89)

Midgrade Unleaded: $2.90 ($2.71-$3.13)

Premium Unleaded: $3.09 ($2.91-$3.33)

Diesel: $3.03 ($2.85-$3.35)
