Rhode Island Man Accused Of Strangling Child

BURRILLVILLE, RI — A Rhode Island is facing a child abuse charge after strangling a child, Attorney General Peter Neronha said Friday.
Kevin Pomfret, 37, of Burrillville, was charged in Providence County Superior Court with second-degree child abuse on Thursday after surrendering to police in February.
Prosecutors said Pomfret strangled a child under age 14 on Jan. 10, in Burrillville, resulting in injuries to the victim.

Pomfret is scheduled for a pre-arraignment conference on July 14, in Providence County Superior Court.
