RI Gas Prices Fall By Double Digits In A Week

The average price is close to falling below $4 per gallon in Rhode Island, after dropping by eleven cents in a week.

PROVIDENCE, RI — Rhode Island's average gas price is close to dropping below $4 per gallon after it fell by 11 cents over the last week, bringing the average price to $4.02 per gallon.

The decrease brings the cost to 34 cents lower than this time last month, when the average price was $4.36 per gallon. The drop at the gas pump comes as oil prices continue to fall, AAA Northeast said, along with the released of millions of barrels from the U.S.'s strategic reserve.

"The average price for a gallon of gas has fallen near or below $4 in much of the country," said Lloyd Albert, a spokesperson for AAA Northeast. "And these lower prices may be a boon to drivers hitting the road more as warmer weather returns."
