RI Deputy Sheriff Shoots Another Deputy Sheriff At State Prison In Cranston: RISP
State police say one sheriff shot another sheriff outside the secure areas at the prison. The injury was reportedly not life-threatening.

CRANSTON, RI — Rhode Island State Police said they are investigating a Monday morning shooting involving two deputy sheriffs at the RI Adult Correctional Institutions (ACI) in Cranston.
State police said the shooting happened around 8:30 a.m. One sheriff shot another in the sally-port area on the grounds of the intake services facility at the prison.
The injury was not life-threatening, according to state police. State police said the shot deputy sheriff was taken to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence for treatment.

State police said the two deputy sheriffs are members of the department's Inmate Control and Custody Transportation Unit, responsible for the transportation of ACI detainees to and from Rhode Island courts. No ACI prisoners or employees were involved or when the shooting happened, according to state police.
State police said it appears the shooting was accidental, but the incident remains under investigation.
