RIPTA officials say the expansion aims to provide more comprehensive support to the transit agency's passengers

CRANSTON, RI — The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) has expanded its customer service call center hours, meaning passengers will soon have access to support on weekends.
Beginning Saturday, the call center's new hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
RIPTA officials said the expansion aims to provide more comprehensive support to the transit agency’s passengers, ensuring that they have access to the information and assistance they need, even on weekends.

"Our passengers rely on us not just for transportation, but also for timely and accurate information to plan their trips," interim RIPTA CEO Christopher Durand said. "We understand that many people use our services seven days a week, and it is important that our call center is available during the same times they are riding our buses. This change reflects our dedication to meeting the needs of our passengers."
RIPTA officials said the expanded hours will allow the agency to address a wider range of inquiries, from route information and schedule updates to fare details and lost property reports.
