Snow Bursts, Bitter Blast, Gusty Winds: Wintry Week In Store For RI

RHODE ISLAND — Multiple snow chances and another brief blast of arctic air are in store across Rhode Island this week, which will likely feel like an improvement from the recent stretch of the polar vortex freeze for most, according to the National Weather Service.

Monday was shaping up as one of the nicest day of the week with sunny skies, moderate winds and highs near 39 degrees.

A line of snow squalls could bring a short bust of heavy snow that coats roads and dims visibility on Tuesday. The timing of the snow may not be great, with it arriving around the morning commute.

More widespread snow showers are expected on Wednesday, with an inch or so likely across the state over the course of the day, with highs near 41 degrees.

Thursday will bring a return of bitter weather for one day. While it is not expected to be as frigid as recent weeks, it will be harsh with a low of 17 degrees and northwest wind gusts up to 25 mph making it feel more like the single digits.

That paves the way for a warmer Friday with highs near 43 degrees and chances of rain, snow or a wintry mix including ice possible for the weekend.
