Sox Legend Manny Ramírez Named Grand Marshal For RI Dominican Festival

PROVIDENCE, RI — Boston Red Sox legend and two-time World Series champion outfielder Manny Ramírez will be the grand marshal of this year's Dominican Cultural & Music Festival of Rhode Island.
Ramírez is scheduled to be one of several honorees at the annual Dominican parade and festival on Aug. 7 at Roger Williams Park in Providence, the Boston Globe reported.
Ramírez was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, before moving to New York City with his parents when he was 13. He played 19 seasons in the MLB, including seven-plus seasons in Boston.

While a member of the Red Sox, Ramírez made the All-Star game every season and finished his career with 555 home runs and 1,831 RBIs.
The parade begins at 10 a.m. at the intersection of Thurbers and Broad streets, before ending at the entrance to Roger Williams Park. Then at noon, the park will host a music festival, grand marshal awards and public official presentations until 8 p.m.
